- What is the convention Media Artwork? Why are websites used to convey this style of media?
- What is 12canoes? Why is it important as Australians to view and understand the content of this website?
- What cultural values and beliefs does 12canoes share?
- How do we create a story of our own from artwork presented to us on 12canoes
- Use Imovie or Comic Life to produce a short film (Assessment)
- Present your piece to the class (Assessment)
- Reflect on your learning through entries to the class blog (Assessment)
- Build your portfolio of work (Assessment)
The Australian
Curriculum for years 7 and 8 require students to “Analyse how technical and
symbolic elements are used in media artworks to create representations
influenced by story, genre, values and point of view of particular audiences”
(ACAMAR071) and Year 9 and 10 should be able to “Evaluate how technical and
symbolic elements are manipulated in media artworks to create a challenge
representations framed by media conventions, social beliefs and values for a
range of audiences” (ACAMAR078). (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2015)
We will also spend considerable time addressing the cross-curricular elements of the media curriculum “examining how the social and cultural values and beliefs of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander communities are represented and manipulated in various forms of media “(ACAMAM074) Yrs 9 & 10 and “exploring different types of media artworks that provide different ideas and concepts based on points of view especially the depiction of cultural groups” (ACAMAM067) Yrs 7 & 8 (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2015)
